Sextile

Sextile

Named after the astrological term for the harmonious union of two conflicting elements, Los Angeles' Sextile evolved from a raw yet dramatic post-punk quartet on their 2015 debut A Thousand Hands to a synth-heavy, politically charged duo on releases such as 2017's Albeit Living.

Sextile began in 2014 when guitarist/vocalist Brady Keehn and drummer/vocalist Melissa Scaduto moved from Brooklyn to L.A., where they soon met bassist Kenny Elkin and guitarist/keyboardist Eddie Wuebben. Sharing similar taste in music as well as a love of the occult, Sextile attracted the attention of Felte when they opened for Ritual Howls. Their debut for the label, A Thousand Hands (which was named after a vision Wuebben had during an open-eye meditation session) arrived in August 2015 and blended industrial, surf-punk, psychobilly, and ambient influences.

By the time Sextile recorded their second album, the project was down to the duo of Keehn and Scaduto. Recorded in an Echo Park basement, the unhinged, politically minded synth-punk of 2017's Albeit Living called to mind forebears such as Circle X, D.A.F. and Chrome. The duo's political bent continued on the 2018 single "Current Affair," which featured vocals from Sienna Scarritt.

After a European tour in 2018, the project was down to the duo of Keehn and Scaduto. The duo recorded the 3 EP which took inspiration from Italian Futurist Luigi Russolo. The project went on hiatus in 2019 and returned with a vengeance in 2022. As Eddie used to say, “We comin’ to yo town!”
